Glad to see others feel the same way! I thought it was just ME!Jan 06, 2010 It's funny that one reviewer said this was like eating plastic with red food coloring...There is some very angry plastic and red food coloring somewhere that doesn't appreciate such an insult! LOL! I am a big fan of Thai food and there is a lot of it where I live. Perhaps this is why I've never had anything made by this brand that I would buy again! I found this on sale at Big Lots and decided to give it a try...EEEEEEK!
I don't blame the company for this assault on my taste buds. Many of the spices and methods used to make Thai food don't seem very adaptable when it comes to turning them into "instant" foods. Anyone who has ever had REAL Pad Thai probably understands why this would be difficult! Any company who tries this might end up with something tasty if they are lucky but it probably would not taste like real Pad Thai. Unfortunately this company couldn't manage to do either. It doesn't taste remotely like Pad Thai nor does it taste remotely good.
Personally, I don't think this is worth trying again. If I want good Thai food, I will go to a restaurant. Even if I was living in the middle of nowhere with no Thai food for miles, I think I would rather order the spices online, read some cookbooks and try making authentic Thai food myself. Even if you know nothing about Asian cooking it would be hard to come up with something worse than this product! This would probably be a better plan than taking a dish containing fish sauce, tamarind paste, boiled eggs, garlic, shrimp and dehydrating it, THEN reconstituting it and expecting it to taste somewhat normal! Humankind is capable of amazing things but I think we are a long way from inventing a good tasting instant Pad Thai!
I am curious though what someone from Thailand would think of this concoction! Something tells me it would be kind of like an American going to Thailand and seeing a package for "Instant Burgers and Fries, just add water!" Sound gross? Well that's kind of like what this product is compared to the real deal...It's just not the same!

I'd give it Zero stars if it would let me.Jan 11, 2007 First off, I was skeptical to try this product, but as a student who lived off Top Ramen before, figured it couldn't be that bad. The item was easy to make, but difficult to cook the noodles evenly. Then to the smell. The smell was God Aweful. Finally the taste test. I can honestly attest that I couldn't even stomache one bite. In fact, after the initial taste... my mouth rejected it and into the trash it went. My coworokers actually complained to the very rank smell eminating from the gabage can. I'd stay away from this one if possible.

Eh...Dec 11, 2006 The sauce is far too sweet for my taste, and it's too difficult to adequately mix the ingredients in the box (you have to dig down to the bottom of the box to get everything stirred, and if you don't get it stirred right -- as I didn't -- you wind up with chunks of sauce glop sticking to the noodles).
Thai Kitchen makes a much better tasting version, with better packaging (a plastic bowl instead of a tall carton).

Expected moreNov 27, 2006 We live in the wilds of Michigan so I was hoping to fins a product that would approximate a Thai experience. This is too many carbs for one person and it didn't taste like Thai food.
Not as good as the other varietiesNov 18, 2006 I don't like this variety as much as the others, specifically the peanut or coconut ginger (those are great!). These are the only ones with a liquid sauce packet and it has sour taste to it.
