Weird taste bad smellAug 23, 2010 If you are Russian and looking for good buckwheat kasha - don't buy that one, it's totally different thing. It smells like medicine and tastes weird, not like regular simple buckwheat. If you are the person who decided to try a buckwheat first time - don't buy that one, you will be disappointed and never know what a tasty meal it should be.
KashaJul 04, 2010 Kasha is good and healthy. Your price is good too, so it is a winner.

Very high quality productMar 01, 2009 Great, high quality. The best that I have tried so far. I am ordering almost everything from Bob's Red Mill now. I have never been dissatisfied with anything.

Not as good as I expectedOct 18, 2008 This buckwheat is very flavorful while uncooked. However, it is dried/roasted in such way that if you cook it the standard way you will end up with mush. You have to follow the recipe on the bag (or some variation of it) in order to get the grainy consistency. To me, this method of cooking is more complicated than what I am used to and to a certain degree compromises the flavor. I am used to the kind of buckwheat that you can cook in a rice steamer and it does not turn to mush.
I know in non-organic world there are better products. Not sure if there is any organic buckwheat that is better than this.
I absolutely love the cracked buckwheat variety by this company -- that kind is usually cooked to be mushy and there the drying/roasting method used by this company puts it well above anything else I tried.

Tasty, healthy alternative to rice or potatoesMay 02, 2008 My family likes this product as a side dish with fish or chicken. Good, nutty flavor, great Bob's organic quality as always. We use a lot of Bob's products, and it's much cheaper to purchase them in bulk at Amazon than at our local grocery store. I've also used this combined with chickpeas to make my own falafel from time to time.
