Better than no pizza at all?May 30, 2010 I just found out two years ago that I have celiac disease and must eat gluten free. I live in a small town that is 3 hours from a big town, and there are not a lot of gluten free options available here. I thought I was just not going to be able to enjoy pizza anymore. Then I ate at a Picazzo's restaurant. They offer a gluten free pizza that is delicious, so I knew it could be done. I decided to look around on Amazon and found these pizza shells. The reviews were pretty good, so I ordered some. At the time, they were on sale and I got them for about $30. You have to buy 5 packs at a time (a total of 10 shells) from Amazon. I have made 4 pizzas using the shells, and I am now wondering if I should throw the rest away or give them to the food bank. First off, when you cut open the plastic bag the shells are packed in, you find that they smell very bad. I checked the ingredients to try and identify the odor. The shells contain pear juice. If you opened a can of pears, poured them out, and left the empty, unwashed can out in the sun for a day, you might match the smell, so maybe it comes from the pear juice. The smell is not as strong once the shells are cooked, but it is still there and an unpleasant taste goes with it. My bottom line recommendation is that, if you really want to try these shells, you buy one package somewhere else to try before you spring for 5 packages from Amazon. To answer my own question, are these better than no pizza at all? I would say no, they are not.
Very GoodApr 15, 2010 These are very good - not as good as the gluten counterpart, but nonetheless, good. I like to keep these on hand so when we feel like having pizza at the last minute, I don't have to spend a couple of hours preparing the crust. Good job!
Pretty good crust!Jul 04, 2009 This crust is pretty good! I like the convenience of pulling a crust out and having a homemade pizza just as quick as a frozen one. My GF kids like them so they're a winner with me!

Best we have foundMay 21, 2009 Our daughter's wheat-sensitivity was diagnosed approx. 2 year ago. We have tried several gluten-free, ready-made pizza crust and also tried making our own from varing recipes. This is the best pizza crust we have found. The texture & "crunchiness" is great. We bake it prior to toppings so that it will be crunchy. We have served it to friends who could eat any pizza they want and they could not tell the difference. And it does not have to refridgerated until it has been opened.
I suggest anyone with wheat/gluten issues try this.
Very GoodJan 31, 2009 Giving up pizza was the hardest part of being diagnosed with Celiac Disease for me. This crust is very good, and I can't tell the difference between it and the real thing (which is very important). It bakes up crispy and not too dense. It seems expensive at first, but it's really not when compared to the prices of pizza chains.
